My Country Needs A History Lesson
By Jodi Evans (11/2009)
I opened up my door today
And this is what I saw:
Men with guns looked back at me
Declaring: “Marshall Law!”
It wasn’t supposed to be this way
This can’t be what it seems
First they take away your Freedom
Then they take away your Dreams
First they tax your paycheck
In the name of “healthy” care
Then they tax your tv set
And say “it’s for the air.”
They watch you with their cameras
And they confiscate your gun
Then they set up check points
So there’s nowhere left to run
They bill you for your neighbor
And they tell you it’s their RIGHT
But we came here for our Freedom
And for FREEDOM, we will fight!
We will not stoop to their level
By using guns and lies…
We will shine a light on all their deeds
With earnest, truthful cries!
It wasn’t supposed to be this way
This can’t be what it seems
First they take away your Freedom
Then they take away your Dreams
My country needs a History lesson
And we need to make it quick
The propaganda’s everywhere
And it’s getting really slick
My Mama’s in a wheelchair
With Guillian Barre
My Daddy’s in a FEMA camp
For yelling “U-S-A!”
My brother’s wife is really sick
From fluoride in the water
And my sister goes to court next week
For yelling at her daughter
How did we fall apart so fast?
How did we miss the signs?
Now our government’s controlling US
And crossing ALL the lines
It wasn’t supposed to be this way
This can’t be what it seems
First they take away your Freedom
Then they take away your Dreams
